Here we share how to travel between Hanoi Noi Bai airport’s terminal two and downtown Hanoi.
Bus: The Cheapest Way
There is an airport bus which is the cheapest way to get into or from town. It is bus number 86, operated by Transerco. As you leave the arrivals area outside, turn left and at the far end of the area behind pillar number 02 is the bus stop. It also stops outside the domestic terminal (terminal one).
The bus has seats, some luggage storage area and advertises wifi.
The one way fare is 30,000 dong (about HK$10). You can pay the ticket conductor onboard.
The bus runs every half hour or so between 6.25 a.m. and 11.05 p.m. from the aiport. Departures the other way start earlier, at around 5.05 a.m. but the last bus is much earlier, at 9.40 p.m.
The ride should take around an hour or less but Hanoi traffic is unpredictable so at busy times it may be longer.
After picking up at terminals one and two, the bus route is: VAECO Company, Au Co, Lac Long Quan (523 Au Co street), Au Co – Xuan Dieu stop, Yen Phu intersection, Cua Bac, Long Bien Transpoint station, 142 Tran Quang Khai, Hanoi Opera House, Hanoi Melia Hotel and Hanoi Central Railway Station but the route is subject to change – feel free to add any updates in the comments section below.
Taxi and Ride Shares
There is a line of taxis right outside the arrival hall. Taxis may run around 300,000 dong (HK$100) but there are unscrupulous drivers, so if using a taxi from the rank insist on the meter.
Car hailing apps like Uber and local rival Grab are also an option. You can read our article about taking Uber in Vietnam here. If you are new to Uber you can also quote our discount code to get a discount on your first ride.
