Scoot is a new discount airline started in 2012 in partnership with Singapore Airlines. Basically it’s the discount brand for SIA.
Scoot flies to 8 destinations from Singapore (soon 9):
- Tokyo (via Taipei)
- Shenyang (via Qingdao)
- Gold Coast
- Seoul (starting May 29, 2013)
Pricing is competitive, but with the Singapore dollar strong these days, not as cheap as fares used to be. Check for regular promotions on their web site.
I have not flown Scoot, but online reviews are mixed. Scoot appears to be run like most other Southeast Asian discount airlines, with plenty of delays and cancellations. Most of the gripes pertain to that. There’s different classes of on-board service so you can choose what you want.
If you’ve flown Scoot, please leave a comment and let us know how your flight went.
