Shama Island North Review: Lovely Clean Hotel Rooms

Earlier in the week I review the service apartments at Shama’s new Island North property, located between the Fortress Hill and North Point Stations. This review will be for the hotel room portion of the property. The lower 3 floors are hotel rooms, while the upper floors are service apartments.

Location: note entrance is on Cheong Hing Street, not King’s Road despite the address.

Very close to the MTR station, Fortress Hill (4-5 min walk) is about 2 min closer than North Point and a little less crowded of a walk. The tram is also on King’s Road along with a plethora of buses to take you anywhere in Hong Kong.

There are two room types, superior queen and superior twin. Room sizes do vary bit, so you may want to try to ask for a larger one if possible. Rates are very competitive, I was looking at a date in mid-May, only $595HKD prior tax. Very affordable for such a nice hotel.

Queen Room

There’s a few different layouts of rooms. The queen room I was shown was cozy and functional. Probably little larger than your typical hotel room. Impeccably clean, functional, and everything appeared brand new.

Bathroom is spacious and has a huge shower.

Twin Room

Twin room I saw was much larger than the queen, and had a suite feel. The setup had a desk in the closet. Trying to make the most of limited space in Hong Kong.

Shama Island North has a gym and rooftop deck for guests to use.

Rooftop BBQ

Hotel guests have access to the same amenities as the service apartment clients, except for the laundry machines. No need to fret though, there’s plenty of laundry cleaners on the nearby streets which you can pay to have cleaned and folded by the pound.

Overall you will be very happy here. Convenient location near MTR, extremely clean rooms, friendly staff, and nearly brand new furnishings.
