Hotel Review: Aloft Seoul Myeongdong

Had a stopover in Seoul while flying on Korean Air, decided on staying in Myeongdong so I can get my shopping on. Of course I didn’t end up buying much but the hotel was new and a nice place to stay.

It’s one of those hotels where you have to go upstairs to check-in, personally I don’t like that style since the person in the lobby usually isn’t too helpful when you need to ask them stuff. In this hotel is really weird that check in is upstairs since the street level lobby is pretty large.

In any case, it’s a new hotel, very similar to other Aloft style hotels if you’ve been. Think more inexpensive version of W. Decorated in a modern fashion, with all of the usual toiletries.

Room was smallish, fitting a king bed and small desk. Not too much else, but functional and nicely appointment. I slept well despite it facing the main road. Enjoyed the hot water pot with teas and coffees.

No tub here in the bathroom, but fine for me. Basic, clean, modern.

Hallways were dark, but it does have a water dispenser in the hallway too which was neat.

Overall it’s really a standard western branded hotel. No problems, though breakfast is expensive. The hotel is super convenient to the metro and shopping in the area. I used SPG points, as long as you get a good deal, you shouldn’t be disappointed. There’s not much to talk about since it’s bare level of service, and everything was nice and new. Really just a convenient place to stay.
