You may recall that in 2017 Cathay Pacific launched its own beer brewed by the Hong Kong Beer Company, named Betsy after the airline’s first plane. It was available for a while onboard certain flights and in several lounges. Cathay claimed that it had been brewed to taste good at altitude, although they seemed to serve it mostly on the ground.
Asiana has now done exactly the same thing, per this article in the Korea Herald. Brewed by the local Korea Craft Brewery, the unimaginatively named “Asiana” is an IPA. It is available in the Asiana lounges until December and can be purchased at the brewery.
At the airline’s lounge in Seoul there is a stand promoting the beer where passengers can pour themselves a draft pint. I have a glass beside me as I write this and am happy to confirm that the golden ale has a fruity body and is pleasantly quaffable. Further exploration awaits.
