Review: Sleeep Capsule Hotel

0

I had the opportunity to check out Hong Kong’s newest capsule hotel, Sleeep. It’s located in a Tong Lau in Sheung Wan. While I didn’t stay overnight, I did get a tour.

Location is great, nearby Central in Sheung Wan. It’s located off Queen’s Road Central, up a set of staircases. Keep this in mind if you have heavy luggage. Look for the Sleeep sign and a black colored wall, easy to spot.

Access to the facility is done by fingerprint and QR code. I don’t know if I feel totally unconcerned about giving my fingerprint out, but otherwise it’s cool and modern.

Sleeep: Fingerprint access

Inside is cleverly designed, and everything is in great condition since it’s still new. The pictures basically speak for themselves. Once you enter, change your shoes for slippers.

There’s a private locker for you to keep your belongings and keep your towel and toiletries.

Capsules are large and modern. You enter from the side, rather than from the end in typical Japanese style capsules. They’re custom designed in California, with a Apple like style. You can close the capsule entirely with a magnetic covering, though I don’t think it’s soundproof.

Sleeep: I fit fine at 5’8″

Sleeep: Mini AC unit

Sleeep: USB Charger/Controls

Bathroom facility is small but there’s two stalls of toilet and shower, so should be perfectly fine since there’s only 8 capsules here.

Sleeep is a cool concept. They take reservations for both hourly naps and overnight stays. It could be good for many purposes, just a nap, arriving early into HK and wanted to freshen up before your hotel check-in, finding a place to stay before your late departure, etc.

Pricing is around $150-200 HKD for first hour, and $50 per hour thereafter. Overnight rates on the website are $599+/nt. Whilst not the cheapest option, you can find hotels in HK for around the same price, it could fit your needs and location is central to many businesses and attractions.
