Don’t get me wrong, there’s absolutely nothing wrong with this property. There’s simply nothing memorable about the place.
Chicago Fairfield Inn Magnificent Mile
It’s a small, downtown property that has been recently remodeled. The rooms are decent, some cheap furnishings here and there, but certainly not bad for a Fairfield. Staff was pleasant and check-in was super quick. Rooms aren’t even that small, I had a corner king which is small, but certainly has enough space for two and luggage.
Location is really the only reason you’re staying here, and price I suppose. I got my room for $68 USD, a steal. It’s a mere 2 minute walk from Michigan Avenue, right smack in middle of the hotels, restaurants, stores, etc. Location can’t be beat, and right down the block is Grand Lux Cafe and Lawry’s if you’re familiar.
No complaints about the place, just expect a basic experience. There isn’t much public space neither, the lobby is a bit small and cramped, and very cold in the winter with the wind blowing in. They need a better front door area to keep the cold out.
Best thing I love about Fairfield Inns are the free breakfast! It’s served on the 2nd floor and it’s fine for what it is.
