Hotel Madera Hong Kong Review, Jordan Kowloon

0

Hotel Madera is a chic, modern designed hotel in the heart of Kowloon’s tourist area. Smack in between Mongkok and TST it’s well located for the tourist looking to be close to Temple Street and the Jordan MTR station. Hotel Madera is definitely one of the cooler properties in the area, considering this is one of the original parts of the city.

The lobby is nice, they have this wall with planters which adds a nice natural feeling. Check-in was quick and easy since I was the only one there at 9pm. They definitely need more seating there, but the chairs are cool.

I got a nice room on the 26th floor, it’s a large room with king bed and seating area. Pretty large and comfortable considering hotel rooms in HK are usually tiny.

I liked the neon green accents. Normally wouldn’t select that color for my own home, but it works for this hotel. I appreciate the two colored towels too, really makes it easy to tell which towel is yours when traveling with someone.

The room had a nice seating area to chill and relax, and separates the room a bit when you have guests over. You can rotate the TV so you can view it from either the bed or sofa. All of the decor was modern and welcoming.

Bathroom was large, nothing too special, though there were jets for the tub. The room is showing some signs of wear, the hotel was opened in 2012, so housekeeping probably needs to make notes of those little things and try to get them fixed more diligently. Overall no complaints though.

As a bonus there’s a free minibar with some soft drinks and a Handy phone for you to use. Free IDD and wifi!

As I was on a high floor, the view from the room was amazing, here’s some day and night shots. Panoramic and a unique view of Kowloon. Definitely one of the better views I’ve seen from a hotel room lately.

On the rooftop there’s a nice little lounge, Horizonte Lounge. You should go check it out if you’re staying at the hotel or in the area. It was raining the night I went, but if it wasn’t I would’ve chilled on the rooftop.

Facility wise, the hotel has it all. There’s a cafe, gym, game room, bar, and even a museum! The museum was cool, it was various scenes of old Hong Kong, and there’s even a mahjong table you can use to play with your friends, just make sure you can find four legs. In fact, I think it might be the national sport of HK!

Gameroom, gym, and cafe are all on the same floor. The gym has all the necessary equipment you need. The gameroom is awesome, has racing car seats for you to play video games in, wish I got to try that.

Cafe was really nice too, it’s super secluded and has tons of seating. A great place to grab a snack or coffee. It’s a great quiet alternative to Starbucks or Pacific Coffee. There’s even a boardroom in the rear if you need to hold some business meetings!

I had the opportunity to check out the Lush Suite and Penthouse too, very impressive. Here’s a few pics I snapped. If you need more space, go for one of these suites. The Penthouse is two floors, with the bedroom up the spiral staircase! Personally I preferred the Lush Suite, as it was on one floor and had a large outdoor patio. The Lush Suite is sexier too because it has the bathtub in the middle of the suite, oolala!

Madera Hong Kong is a fun trendy property. It has this boutique hotel feel, but it’s pretty large s not technically boutique. It’s well located close to Jordan MTR so you can get anywhere in HK pretty easily from here. Next time you’re looking for a place to stay in Kowloon, I certainly can recommend the Madera. There’s a newer sister property on Hollywood Road in Central which I will review shortly too.
