If you’ve been reading my posts you know I traveled to L.A. recently and I stayed at the Embassy Suites in Santa Ana.
The hotel is a large property located right off of the 55 freeway near Irvine and Costa mesa. It looks nice on the outside but once you get inside you can tell it’s been around for quite awhile.
Check in was easy, though I had to wait a few minutes. Agent was helpful and friendly. She said my room was one of the newer and renovated ones, but it wasn’t renovated in the last five years I don’t think. Can’t imagine what the non renovated ones looked like.
Typical embassy suite type room, living room in front with small LCD tv, bedroom in back with larger LCD tv. Minibar in living room, and bathroom was small and dated. Didn’t like the energy saving lights since it took awhile to see anything in the bathroom after flipping the switch.
Breakfast buffet is decent with an omelette station and your normal assortment of cereals and breads. Each station had a tip jar which I felt was tacky.
Business center was a big plus. It contained modern computers and printers for free. There were also office supplies you can use like binder clips and paper clips.
There’s also a small swimming pool next to the business center, while I didn’t use the pool, it looked clean.
Overall the hotel has good service though a more casual feel than at a higher end business property. The hard product, e.g. rooms and elevators were old and they need a total renovation I think to be competitive. I wouldn’t stay at this hotel again because of how old the place is, I’m used to the newer hotels in Asia. On the plus side the parking is totally free!
