Updated August 2014: Asia Golf Club is now closed to make way for new apartment buildings in Cheung Sha Wan. Options for driving ranges keep getting smaller and smaller. Also updated the SCAA & Golf Waterfall membership fees.
Golf driving ranges are hard to come by in land restricted Hong Kong. If they do exist, usually they’re just on temporary lots until the developer starts construction on a new commercial building or housing complex. Therefore, the location and names will always change but they seem to pop up new ones soon after the old ones close.
Here is a list of driving ranges in Hong Kong, and I’ve been to most of them:
South China Athletic Association (SCAA):
88 Caroline Hill Road Causeway Bay, Hong Kong
Nice option on the HK side in Causeway Bay. Very old driving range, you need to be a member of the association. Membership is easy to obtain, just need a HKID, photo, and $120 to sign up for a 1 year membership or $30 per entry. Grass poor and gets mosquitoes when it rains. On the plus side they have this old school mechanical ball setter so you just need to press a level and a ball pops out. Can’t beat the prime location neither.
Hours and prices below, excluding the entrance fee (if not member.) Note it’s not open earlier than 4 pm, weird.
|Fees :||Peak Session: $35 per 1/2 hr|
Mon to Fri : 16:00-22:00 Sat & Sun : 16:00-19:00
Non-peak session: $25 per 1/2 hr
Mon to Fri : 17:00- 18:00 , 22:00-23:00 Sat & Sun :19:00-23:00
2/F, Olympian City One 11 Hoi Fai Road Kowloon, Hong Kong
Personally I have not gone, but my friend Walter says it’s mediocre at best. It’s very small looking from the outside and they have multiple levels of bays. The convenient is good though, right next to the Olympic MTR station. $1,000 for 12 months to be a member, expensive. Web site did not list peak hours, figure similar to SCAA above.

8C Tseng Tau Village, Shap Sze Heung, Sai Kung, Hong Kong
My favorite driving range in HK, but it’s really hard to get to without a car. It’s newish, well kept, has nice facilities, and super cheap discount with teacher or student ID. There’s some daily specials too, see below. Very serene surrounding without outside distractions.

Kau Sai Chau Golf Club
Kau Sai Chau, Sai Kung
Haven’t been, but it seems like a hassle to take a ferry just to go to the driving range, better save that effort for a full day out at the course.
Whitehead, Ma On Shan
A bit run down, grass is unkept, but pretty cheap. Gets a bit windy at times in this location. They have a BBQ on concrete area which you can partake in to if that’s your thing. There is a shuttle bus from Sunshien City or Shatin Town Hall according to the website.
There are other ones in HK as well, but I think these are the most popular and easiest to access without a private membership.
Island Golf: (Closed as of March 2013)
3 Chi Shin Street Tseung Kwan O
Used to be on HK Island in Sai Wan Ho, now moved to Tseung Kwan O. Nearby the station Tseung Kwan O station, about a 5-10 minute walk, but there’s also a shuttle located outside of the station exit B1, near the fire hydrant on the sidewalk if you don’t want to walk. The facilities are rather new and decently kept, but the grass area can use some sprucing up.
Asia Golf Club: (Closed as of July 2013)
688, Lai Chi Kok Road Cheung Sha Wan, Kowloon
Close to Cheung Sha Wan MTR Exit B. Nice club, multi-story well kept and convenient. Prices are a little higher because of the urban setting and I expect them to close sometime in the near future to make way for a new building.
