The newest Sports Illustrated Swimsuit edition is out! But wait, it’s not what you think. I’m not talking about the magazine, but I’m referring to Air New Zealand’s newest flight safety video.
Air New Zealand is known for its extravagant and attention getting flight safety videos and the latest one showing scantily clad women on a beautiful exotic beach is no different. The newest video includes a few famous bikini models giving you the ins and outs of safety on your flight. These models include Ariel Meredith, Hannah Davis, Jessica Gomes and Chrissy Teigen. There’s also a special cameo by Christie Brinkley towards the end.
Depending where you’re from, and who you are, you could find this video a bit sexist. While in my opinion this video still holds the line as there isn’t anything demeaning in the video, it’s really no different than a normal Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Edition or Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show which is widely accepted by society.
I’m very surprised the aviation authorities actually allow these types of videos to be displayed on airplanes, since they tend to mock a usually formal rules and regulation based industry. However, on the plus side, passengers do usually pay attention and stayed engaged with these entertaining and often hilarious safety videos which I presume would be NZ’s argument. Not to mention NZ can get tons of free publicity for their airline, such as through the article here.
