I never heard of Cambria Hotels until I was looking for cheap usage of my Choice Hotel points. Choice Hotels owns the Comfort Inn and EconoLodge brands, which are usually tired and often dirty. Below is a description:
WHERE EVERYBODY IS SOMEBODY
It doesn’t matter if you stay with us once a year or once a month—at Cambria® hotels & suites you’re always a VIP. The vibe here is upscale but never uptight—and our modern, stylish rooms make you feel like you’ve been upgraded.
I honestly try to stay away from Choice Hotels whenever possible unless the reviews are phenomenal. However, I had points from signing up for the US credit card so I might as well use them.
Cambria Hotel LAX
For only 10,000 points a night, Cambria Hotel is a brand new property just south of LAX airport. Honestly, I couldn’t have had a better stay, and the staff was great! Even the regular prices they were charging around $115 US were reasonable for such a new property.
There was plenty of free parking and check-in was easy. Got assigned a king room and it was nicely furnished with plenty of furniture. Sitting area, TV desk, large work desk and comfy chair. TV was nice and large too with plenty of channels. Everything was clean and new.
The fridge, coffee marker, and lighted mirror in the room was nice too.
Bathroom is standard size for a hotel, nicely appointed and even has a mirror with built-in bluetooth speaker! Problem was when I searched for the mirror on my phone, I got so many other bluetooth mirrors in the hotel that I couldn’t sync and figure out which was mine. They need to rename them to the room number or give the guest the bluetooth address so they can tell which is which.
Shower was nice, but there’s no door which is weird. So of course water got all over the floor and I needed to call for more towels. Housekeeper was speedy but they brought only small towels first. Then I had to ask the lady to bring regular size towels. Why would you only bring small towels with I ask for 2 extra sets? lol.
Didn’t interact with staff too much but they seemed friendly and helpful when needed. I grabbed a drink from the lobby store, Gatorade which cost $3.
Overall I really loved this property. Very close to LAX, free parking, and brand new. Time will tell if this hotel holds up, but if so, it’s a star in the Choice Hotel portfolio and great use of points.
