Some airport lounges offer a standard set of amenities, but others have something to set them apart.
The Finnair Premium Lounge in Helsinki is primarily of interest in our context as it is open for select One World members heading to Hong Kong on Finnair. What sets it apart from any other lounge I have visited is that it has its own sauna, but there is more to it than that.
The lounge is opposite gate 32, just behind the main Finnair lounge.
The space is relatively small, though the tasteful and subtle decoration make it seem less crowded than might otherwise be the case.
The lounge offers showers, but does also feature a sauna. Saunas are a commonplace part of Finnish culture so it is fitting that the lounge offers one. The good news is that it really is a decent albeit small sauna. You can get a towel in the shower area, and enjoy. There is one sauna so it is mixed sex.
The main lounge has a variety of comfortable chairs.
There is also a children’s play area and a business area with a few computers and a printer.
The food is excellent quality. There is a range of small dishes on display.
In addition, the lounge has an a la carte menu albeit that on the day of my visit it only contained two options.
Here is what a dish off the menu looked like.
The bar is well-stocked with high quality drinks and the serving staff were friendly and attentive.
This is a fun lounge because it has a sauna, but it is also a comfortable and relaxing place in which to wait for a flight.
