Cathay Pacific increased check-in baggage allowance
Good news today! Cathay Pacific is increasing the baggage allowances by 10kg!
Nice to hear an airline giving something back to the consumer after years and years of cutting. Below is the new baggage weight limits for tickets issued after September 15, 2016.
- Economy: 30kg /66lbs
- Premium Economy: 35kg /77lbs
- Business: 40kg /88lbs
- First Class: 50kg /110lbs
All passengers will be entitled to an additional 10kg check-in baggage allowance, and check in up to two baggage items in Economy Class, Premium Economy Class, Business Class, and three in First Class.
Marco Polo Club members will continue to enjoy additional baggage allowance on top of this policy based on tier status and travel class.
|Max height ( H )||23cm||/||9”|
|Max width ( W )||36cm||/||14”|
|Max length ( L )||56cm||/||22”|
Here’s the full details if you need.
Why are they doing this? I’d say it’s one way to make up for the service level decreases in recent years. It could also be competitive, as you’d take CX over another airline if you can bring more luggage but I don’t know if that many people travel with their baggage allowance at the limit.
Enjoying bringing home more goodies from your trips.
