In some positive news, Malaysia Airlines has officially joined the oneworld alliance! This is great news since the Asia Miles program is part of oneworld and you’ll be able to now redeem those miles for flights on MH.
There are three flights which Malaysia Airlines operates from HKG.
- HKG – Kuala Lumpur (non-stop)
- HKG – Kota Kinabalu (non-stop)
- HKG – Kuching (via Kota Kinabalu)
Malaysia Airlines also flies to a host of other destinations in Southeast Asia which Cathay Pacific or Dragonair do not service. Most of those destinations can be accessed flying via Kuala Lumpur, so you could fly either CX or MH from HKG to KUL to connect to other destinations.
Notably, I did see Siem Reap as a destination which is now reachable via redeeming Asia Miles.
Don’t forget you can also accrue miles for your preferred oneworld program while flying on Malaysia Airlines as well!
