Earn Extra Asia Miles on Regional Tickets

Cathay Pacific is supposed to be wooing economy class travellers according to the SCMP, including those in Hong Kong who as we have pointed out before Cathay has been price gouging.

Here is some welcome news in that regard. Per this Flyertalk thread, Asia Miles is currently offering bonus Asia Miles when you book economy class return flights from Hong Kong to select Asian destinations.  Most flights earn 3,000 Asia Miles, some Korean and Japanese flights earn 4,000 milesor 6 ,000 miles dependent on fare class. Miles only accrue in some fare classes.

To receive these miles, you need to register specifically on the Asia Miles website by 19 September. Booking and travel must be between now and 17 December (with a rather churlish blackout period from the 29th September to 2nd October). (Actually the website claims “you can earn Bonus Miles for an unlimited time” but that seems inaccurate given that separately it lists 17 December as the last date for earning. As Korea is also misspelt on the page, maybe this promotion was put together in a hurry).

Your Asia Miles account needs to be registered in HK or Macau. Full details are on the Asia Miles website.
