Happy Valentine’s Day!
In some Cathay Pacific news, they’ve decided to offer a Visa credit card in the US market. A nice 25K miles for sign-up, after $2,500 spending in 90 days. Keep in mind there is a $95 annual fee which isn’t waived the first year, but no foreign transaction fees.
Follow the sign-up link from the CX website. Card is being offered by Synchrony Bank, a small issuer of primarily department store cards.
Miles earning breakdown:
- Earn 2 Asia Miles per $1 spent on eligible Cathay Pacific travel and in-flight purchases.
- Earn 1.5 Asia Miles per $1 spent on dining in the US or abroad.
- Earn 1.5 Asia Miles per $1 spent on purchases outside of the US.
- Earn 1 Asia Mile per $1 spent on all other purchases made in the US.
Other than bonus miles, the card doesn’t offer many perks when flying Cathay Pacific other than Marco Polo membership.
New members will enjoy a complimentary first year green tier membership in the Marco Polo Club. Learn more about the Marco Polo Club benefits.
I would just sign-up for the card, get the bonus, then cancel before the follow year’s annual fee was up. If they offered Silver status I’d be interested in keeping it long term.
