Why was my most recently flight from LAX-HKG the best flight ever? Simple, there was probably only about 65 passengers on the whole 777-300ER. Only 45pax in Economy, everyone had about three rows to themselves.
I knew loads would be light on this flight, as I seat the seat maps were showing plenty of seats, but not this light. I used some Alaska Airline miles to redeem a premium economy seat for 35,000 miles one way. I highly suggest using Alaska to redeem Cathay Pacific flights, you can get a free-stopover in HKG, so I booked a flight LAX-HKG-SGN all for 35,000 miles in premium economy. Economy is 30,000 so it’s a no brainer to upgrade yourself for only 5,000 miles.
I’m not going to do a full review since there’s tons of other posts on the interweb reviewing Cathay Flights. Here’s some pics from the flight though.
Comes with eye mask, socks, and ear plugs. Where’s the toothbrush? Looks more like the old economy amenity kits, minus the toothbrush. It’s really cheap looking and detracts from the “premium” experience.
Headphones are good, have some noise cancelling affect.
Flight departed 930am, breakfast approx. 1 hour after takeoff. I chose the Western egg soufflé.
I was asked to complete a survey by a flight attendant. It was lengthy but they do provide a $50 HKD duty free voucher which I was happy to see. I was unhappy to see you needed to spend $500 to get the $50 off. Boo.
Dinner served before landing. Not great since it was close to well done, but I was hungry.
