There is a wide range of options to travel between Hong Kong and LA.
There are three carriers offering direct service between LA and Hong Kong:
- Cathay Pacific, with three or four frequencies daily. We have reviewed this in business class, premium economy and economy class.
- Hong Kong Airlines. We reviewed their flight in business class here and in economy here.
- American Airlines. We reviewed this flight in economy class here.
If you do not mind making a connection, your choice is huge, from east Asian carriers such as ANA, Asiana, Korean Air and EVA, to United, and a plethora of Chinese carriers. It is longer to go via Europe or the Middle East but occasionally good fares pop up on those routes.
Some cruises link Los Angeles and Hong Kong but they tend to be months long cruises. There is no direct passenger service.
Both ports are busy commercial ports, though. So if you want to travel by sea you may well find a cabin on a cargo ship directly between Hong Kong and Long Beach. For more information, you would be best to consult one of the many travel agencies which specialise in freighter travel.
