United Club Lounge Hong Kong Airport

Popped into the United Club lounge today. As long as I’ve lived in Hong Kong, I’ve never had a chance to check this place out. I was really impressed and how large and spacious it is. It’s definitely huge considering the small number of flights that United has operating out of Hong Kong. Much better than the Thai Airways lounge I went to.

Located near Gate 61…take elevator or escalator up one level from departures.

Ample seating in a nice environment

The lounge has plenty of different seating areas which are cordoned off by various walls and partitions. I really enjoy this since it makes the space feel a bit more private. There’s some low chairs, high chairs, low tables, high tables, a nice mix. Also, there were a couple of TVs tuned into CNN if you wanted to keep up with the latest happenings.

More various seating options

There’s a few different buffet areas which serve salads, hot meals, make-your-own-taco, sushi, etc. Food was ok, some of it hit or miss. The taco station was cool, except the flavoring didn’t taste like tacos, more like beef Bolognese. The sushi was nice, except it was all cheapo California rolls just wrapped in different ways. The hot meal was a chicken curry, basmati rice, and some veggies. There was also a small salad bar with a small selection of toppings. Certainly not a bad spread for a pre-flight snack or even a meal.

Drink-wise there’s plenty of alcoholic beverages to choose from. I think there was probably more alcohol and beer than regular drinks. They only had orange or apple juice and some pre-packed selections in the fridge.

The lounge has a few other amenities such as showers, meeting rooms, newspapers & magazines, and a couple of computer terminals. I didn’t use a shower, but the bathroom was modern and clean so I assume the shower is the same. I went around 4-5pm and there were barely any people around since there’s not many UA flights departing around then.

More food

If you have a chance to stop by this lounge, it should be a nice reprieve from the main terminal. It’s also not a bad place to use your United Club lounge pass. The only other place I’d probably use it would be the Tokyo Narita lounge, which I’ve been to many times. The Tokyo lounge is a little larger, but much more crowded and older.
