Thai Business Class Review HKG – BKK – ZRH
Thai Business class is great. While it’s not up to the standard of Cathay Pacific in both hard product and service, it certainly is still high level and I wouldn’t hesitate flying it again.
Cabin is decorated in your typical Thai Airways purple Royal Silk color scheme. Seats were a bit older, newer seats on the HKG – BKK route than BKK – ZRH. My main complaint was that the seats were not herringbone, so you do not have direct access to the aisles from each seat. One more aspect of the seat I didn’t like was that although it was lie flat, it was tilted about 170 degrees rather than 180, so you would slide down towards your feet while sleeping. They really need to make that horizontal to compete these days.
The entertainment system is nice with lots of Western and Asian TV shows, movies, and music to choose from. You shouldn’t be bored at all. The pillow and blanket was nice and fluffy so there’s no issues there.
Service is typical Thai style, not overly caring or watchful but attentive like on Singapore Airlines, but if you request anything it’ll be done with a smile. I didn’t really need anything as their amenity kits and blankets were sufficient for my needs.
Food-wise I thought it was mediocre, but I think that’s because of what I ordered. I ordered the same Thai dish, stir-friend chicken with garlic, chili, and basil leaves, on both flights because I wasn’t that hungry and wanted something Asian. Of course it tasted way better coming out of BKK than HKG.
Overall flights were safe, on-time, and non-eventful, so that equals success. You won’t be disappointed if you fly Thai business. One plus of the business class layover in Bangkok if that you can get a free massage, which I’ll blog about next.
