New Otani Inn Yokohama Review
I recently reviewed the New Otani Inn Tokyo, and I must say, the New Otani Inn Yokohama is really fantastic, especially compared with the older Tokyo sister property. The New Otani Inn Yokohama is located right next door to JR Sakuragicho station, one stop from Yokohama Station. It’s about 35 minutes from Tokyo and a nice modern hotel located above a small shopping mall.
I arrived a bit earlier than check-in, and if you’ve been to Japan, you know it’s a bit no no to request an early check-in as it’s very frowned upon. So instead I just left my bags at the front desk which was no problem at all.
Once arriving in the room, the view really wows you, assuming you get the harbor view. The huge ferris view, water, and surrounding area is beautiful. The room is modern and relatively spacious for Japan with a long sofa bed. The bathroom was spacious and modern as well. My only real gripe is that the TV is on the side, next to the bathroom wall, not at the wall opposite the bed. So it’s very hard to watch TV from pretty much everywhere in the room. Atleast the TV was large-screen and had one or two English channels.
There wasn’t too much interaction with staff, but the limited amount, including a request for extra towels was met perfectly and I didn’t have to wait long for the towels. I can highly reccommend this property the next time you want to stay in the Yokohama area. Don’t forget to visit the Cup Noodles museum which is also about a 10-15 minute walk from the hotel.
