USA – Asia from mid $500s on Delta and American

Jump on this if you can depart next week from the USA. I announced it on my Facebook page this morning and now it’s expanded to DL and AA.

Update 8:25 HKT Sep 20: United Airlines has also matched fares from DL and AA, and I am reading that you can book the codeshare over Pacific flights operated on ANA. This is an AMAZING fare to fly on NH if you can find. I recently flew them and had a great experience.

I saw this on theflightdeal but also flyertalk has been mentioning this today. Many cities in the USA to many cities in Asia for around $500-600 ish depending on actual destinations and routings. This is including all taxes / fees. Originally this was only a Delta fare, but now American has jumped on and matched.

The main criteria is departing September 25th, or 26th. Return is much more open, basically any Tues/Wed in October – December (but some weeks are other days). When you search on DL or AA web site it’ll show you the dates with the cheapest fares so that’s how you can pinpoint the exact dates that are still available at this price.

Cheapest from NYC – HKG I saw was $586 on Delta, LAX – HKG $593.
If you do choose American, the best part is you can take JAL on the Asia legs from NRT/HND to your final destination.

Can depart from these cities (possibly others):

  • Los Angeles
  • Portland
  • Seattle
  • Phoenix
  • Fort Lauderdale
  • New York
  • Baltimore
  • Philadelphia
  • Boston
  • Oakland

Can go to: (possibly others)

  • Bangkok
  • Tokyo
  • Hong Kong
  • Shanghai
  • Beijing
  • Manila
  • Taipei
  • Osaka

If you have the desire to, you can get a less than 24 hour stop over in cities. e.g. for American you can depart BOS to ORD, overnight in ORD to visit friends, and then leave the next morning to PVG. Just be aware of the routings and times that are offered to you.

I suggest you book ASAP. I don’t think this will get pulled, but rather the seats in the low fare bucket will disappear leaving you with limited or no options.  Right now the routings are pretty generous, so find the times / cities you’d like to connect through.
