Oz Jet Speed Boat Sydney Review
Caution: You will get wet on this ride!
Oz Jet is a speedboating attraction in the Sydney Circular Quay area. It’s an awesome way to see the city by sea, along with enjoying a thrilling high-speed boat road in the harbor.
You get strapped into a bright red speedboat and the driver takes you around the harbor making exciting waves and turns throughout. He’ll stop once in awhile to point out a few sights and facts here and there, but this is basically a thrill ride. It’s a fun way to explore Sydney by sea and I recommend it to everyone visiting Sydney, especially first-timers like myself. Both of the staff on-duty were super friendly and helpful too, which made the experience that much more enjoyable.
I arrived 15 minutes before my scheduled ride time, signed in and filled out the disclaimer forms. I guess that’s in-case I fell out of the boat or something similar, but I never felt unsafe during the ride.
You can don a red poncho to help protect against the water if you wish, I highly recommend you do. I had worn one and still got wet in a lot of places. The water is salt water too, so you don’t really want that all over your body after. I suggest you plan this activity so that you’ll have access to a shower immediately afterwards. I went to the zoo after so I was a bit salty all day, lol.
There is a lockbox where you can put your valuables while you are on the boat ride. Note you can’t take anything with you, including cameras, nor should you. Any items you hold will definitely fall out unless it’s strapped to your body tightly. If you’re wearing shoes that might fly out, you can ride the boat barefoot too.
There is a GoPro video camera attached to the boat, and you can purchase pictures and videos of the ride afterwards if you so wish. Here a video from my ride, the weather was awesome, and the total time was about 30 minutes. I suggest going on a nice sunny day if you can.
If you’re looking for a fun boat ride and a unique was to see the city, OZ Jet is certainly the way to go. It’s right next to all of the ferry boats at Circular Quay before you reach to the Opera House, so really convenient and a nice place to depart from. If you book online, it might be a little cheaper too!
