Cathay Pacific SIN – HKG and HKG – NRT Flight Review

Recently used up some of my Asia Miles to book a one way flight from Singapore SIN to Tokyo NRT with a stopover in HKG for 25,000 Asia Miles. This was in economy class flying Cathay Pacific.

Fairly empty flight

Pretty awesome deal since SIN to HKG one way alone is already 20,000 miles. This is a prime example of how to maximize the Asia Miles program.

The flights were pretty standard for Cathay Pacific, on older equipment. Service and food were decent, but the seats and A/V were a bit outdated. On the SIN – HKG flight the seats were old and not too comfortable, but I had a few empty seats to myself since it was the China National Holiday and I was traveling midweek. HKG – NRT seats were also old but very comfy, I had four seats to myself in the middle and was able to lie across. Only thing I didn’t like was that it was the last row of economy so I could hear all of the toilets flushing behind me, but bearable for the 4 hours to Tokyo.

Small TV, and not on-demand, but better than no TV

Overall can’t complain, and certainly good enough for a short 3-4 hour flight, especially when no one’s sitting next to me.

can you show us some examples (maybe in a different post) on how to maximize asiamiles (for people who are stuck using of asiamiles)?
also, i thought you may find this interesting for locals who want to earn BA avios on their everyday spending, a much better alternatives to earning asiamiles. http://www.dahsing.com/en/html/credit_card/cardinfo/co_brand/ba_card.html
